A second individual has been apprehended in connection with the late May shooting and attempted robbery at a Hickory Hill gas station, which left two injured, including a juvenile.

As reported by Action News 5, Kevon Chapman, 18, was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, among other charges. Tariq Robinson, 21, involved in the incident, was earlier taken into custody on similar charges. The two male victims, discovered with gunshot wounds at a Circle K on Mount Moriah Road, were in critical condition, with one man shot in the face and unable to speak owing to a bullet lodged near an artery in his neck.

Providing further details on the incident, surveillance video obtained by the Memphis Police Department showed two men exiting a white Nissan Altima and approaching the victims' vehicle before the altercation ensued. FOX13 Memphis reports Chapman allegedly attempted to rob the man and the teenager, during which he shot them both.

Adding to the narrative, in what could be a scene pulled from a tense crime thriller, the juvenile victim, according to WREG, managed to run from the vehicle during the shooting, was later found with a gunshot wound to his leg and abrasions on his face. Further investigations led to Chapman's positive identification in a photo lineup and subsequent arrest by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Both suspects are facing serious charges, with Chapman's court appearance scheduled for Friday morning. Consequences are still unfolding for this tragic event, echoing larger concerns over gun violence and public safety in our communities. Meanwhile, the condition of one of the victims remains a gripping reminder of this reality, still in critical condition and unable to voice their ordeal.
