
Seven individuals have been taken into custody following a violent incident at an apartment complex in Chester, with an 18-year-old woman sustaining a gunshot injury. The Chester Police Department reported to the scene at Chester Heights Apartments on Dawson Drive this past Sunday, around 11:30 p.m., after several people reportedly began to shoot at each other in the parking lot, as detailed by WBTV.
The confrontation left Breasia Truesdale with a wound to her lower back. She was quickly taken to MUSC Health in Chester by a friend and was subsequently transferred to a hospital in Columbia, where she is reported to be in stable condition. According to WSOCTV, the police managed to arrest five suspects shortly after the incident and went onto apprehend two more on Thursday. The officers executed several search warrants in the process, uncovering multiple firearms, including both handguns and rifles as part of the evidence.
The adults arrested in connection with the shooting include 19-year-olds Vijay Phillips, Wil’Mariee Patterson, and Ja’Taves Cherry, with Cherry being charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, as per QCNews. The identity of the juveniles involved has not been disclosed, but the offenses include breach of peace (high and aggravated). The investigation into the shooting is still actively pursued, and Chester Police have encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
