Simi Valley police responded to a fatal shooting incident involving a homeowner and an intruder, who turned out to be the homeowner's wife's ex-boyfriend. According to FOXLA, the call came in at 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, with officers arriving at the scene to find the man shot and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The confrontation occurred after the suspect broke into the home while armed with a knife, leading to a deadly altercation with the current husband.
Details from a CBS News report indicate that the woman had previously sought a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, amidst a history of altercations where the ex had shown up at the residence. The husband, having confronted the intruder who broke into their home, is said to be cooperative with the authorities while the investigation unfolds.
The incident transpired on the 4100 block of Eileen Street, where the couple lived with their two children, both under 12, who were present during the time of the shooting. As per The Ventura County Star, Sgt. Rick Morton of the Simi Valley Police Department confirmed the prior relationship between the wife and the intruder and noted that this was not the first time police had been called to the residence regarding the ex-boyfriend.
While the names of the people involved have not been released, the husband was interviewed at the police station, and the wife and children were taken away to ensure their safety and well-being.
