In the heart of St. Louis, the Chaifetz Arena has transformed into a hub of hope and support as the City of St. Louis Government has announced a Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) to aid residents in the aftermath of recent calamities. Beginning today, the arena at 1 South Compton Avenue is set to host a slew of more than 30 agencies providing essential services, including legal advice, healthcare, and necessary supplies for those affected.
Designed as a multi-date event to cover the needs of the city's residents with the warmth of community support, the DAC will run from June 9-12, then June 16-18, and once more from June 23-26, with doors open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., as per the social media post by the City of St. Louis Government. To mitigate potential delays and queuing, citizens are encouraged to register in advance through the city's official website—or for those who find technology a barrier, by dialing 211 to connect with United Way's assistance in setting an appointment, although walk-ins are indeed welcome, they might face longer waits.
Transportation, often a hidden barrier in times of need, is being addressed through a partnership with Uber, which is stepping up to offer free rides valued at up to $50 each way for those venturing to and from the Disaster Assistance Center. "Use promo code STLRELIEF2025 in the Uber app," the City of St. Louis Government's post advised, a testament to collaborations that elevate a city's resilience in the face of adversity.
