With Mr. Hess nearing the end of life, his family and the SLMPD Traffic Division came together to honor his legacy while he could still be a part of the celebration, as he recently underwent a serious medical procedure, traffic Officers Moran and Tenorio were the ones behind this touching gesture that not only brightened the retired motorman's day but also bridged the generations of officers within the division, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's official announcement.
The ceremony featured modern advancements in policing technology, highlighting how the work of officers like Hess have paved the way for today's methods and equipment; retired colleagues, deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, and Hess's family were all in attendance to show their support and respect for his longstanding service.
