
On June 5, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 2:20 p.m. regarding an injured hiker on the Koko Head Crater Trail in Hawaii Kai. Five Honolulu Fire Department units with 17 personnel were dispatched. The first unit arrived at 2:30 p.m. and began ascending the trail on foot, while the second unit secured a landing zone nearby for airlift operations, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
The hiker, a male in his teens, was reported injured and unable to make his way down the trail on his own. Honolulu Fire Department personnel reached him at 2:49 p.m., conducted a medical assessment, and provided basic life support at the scene.
The teen was safely airlifted from the trail to the designated landing zone. At 3:12 p.m., care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services for further treatment, as per the Honolulu Fire Department.
