A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday that led to the death of a teenage boy following a traffic collision in Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The collision took place at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street and involved two vehicles and a pedestrian.

Responding at approximately 2:56 p.m., the officers found that an Infiniti G37 and a Toyota Prius had collided, the aftermath of which included the fatal injury of a 15-year-old pedestrian. The firefighters from the Long Beach Fire Department, aiding immediately, transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died. Traveling westbound on Carson Street, the Infiniti was said to have run a red light and struck the Prius, which was crossing the intersection on a green light.

As per the initial findings, the violent collision caused the Infiniti to overturn and skid onto the northwest sidewalk on Carson Street. Here, the boy, sitting at a bus stop, was struck, who remains unknown due to his age. The Toyota Prius driver, a 32-year-old man from Lakewood, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, while the Infiniti driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

According to the same police report, speed is currently under investigation as a contributing factor in the crash. Detective Ashley Van Holland from LBPD's Collision Investigation Detail is leading the investigation.
