In a recent revelation of economic milestones, Texas has positioned itself at the forefront of job creation within the United States. The state, under the leadership of Governor Greg Abbott, has added over 2.53 million jobs, a testament to its booming economy. As reported by the Office of the Texas Governor, this achievement places Texas as the nation's leader in employment growth—a fact that Abbott was quick to highlight.
"Texas is America’s undisputed jobs engine," Abbott proclaimed, extolling the state's success in not only job creation over the past month, but throughout the last year. May employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics supports this claim, with Texas gaining the most nonfarm jobs over the month of May at 28,100 and from May 2024 to May 2025 at 213,300, as stated on the Office of the Texas Governor. Abbott attributes this growth to legislative measures that have worked to establish an environment conducive to business development and job creation.
The economic strategy, orchestrated by Governor Abbott and the Texas Legislature, included cutting red tape and incorporating pro-growth policies, which have further stimulated the economy and expanded vocational training programs. Crediting the success to these recent legislative maneuvers, Abbott said, "The policies I signed into law mean more paychecks and more opportunities for Texas families to thrive," as stated by the Office of the Texas Governor. These results are reflective of a deliberate effort to streamline business operations and foster an environment where the labor market can flourish.
Last week, Governor Abbott highlighted Texas' strong economy. He announced that the state is doing better than expected in job numbers, labor force size, and overall employment. This growth helps Texans now and also makes Texas a leader in job growth and economic stability nationwide, as per the Office of the Texas Governor.
