A tragic car accident in northeast Las Vegas has left two people dead and a child in critical condition. The crash occurred on Tuesday evening when the vehicle, as News 3 LV reports, struck a power pole on E. Carey Avenue east of N. Pecos Road. Police investigations suggest that the 36-year-old female driver, who was subsequently ejected from the car, was speeding before she lost control of the SUV.
Following the impact, the Nissan Murano "hit the south-side curb," according to News 3 LV, jumped the sidewalk, and collided with a wall and power pole. The vehicle then came to a rest on the street, the scene of the crash now adding a somber note to the city's statistics as the location of its 75th and 76th traffic-related fatalities this year.
Both adult victims of the crash were pronounced dead at the scene. The 38-year-old woman in the front passenger seat was thrown into the rear compartment during the accident. A 9-year-old girl, who was pinned in the rear seat, was rushed to UMC with critical injuries, a stark reminder of the unforeseen consequences that play out on our roads, as reported by News 3 LV.
FOX5 Vegas reported on the horrifying details of the incident, noting that "The Nissan struck a curb, then traveled onto the sidewalk, hit a wall, collided with a power pole, and then was redirected back into the roadway where it came to final rest." In the aftermath of the crash, it is the surviving juvenile's battle for survival that now grips the heart of the community, hoping desperately for her recovery.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is still looking into what caused the crash and whether other factors, like driver impairment, were involved. So far, no further details have been released. T
