
Earlier today, the hustle of Grand Central Terminal was disrupted by an act of violence as two men were stabbed around 7:20 a.m. on the mezzanine level. According to police, the victims, aged 28 and 32, both sustained stab wounds to the abdomen and buttocks. The older man was involved in an altercation on a southbound No. 5 train which escalated when the suspect brandished a knife, injuring him and the 28-year-old bystander, CBS News reports.
Both victims sought assistance following the attack, one flagging down an NYPD officer and the other, injured man reaching out to an MTA police officer within Grand Central Terminal. They were transported to a hospital where they were listed in stable condition. Officials have urged anyone with information to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline or submit tips through their website or on X, as per ABC7NY.
While a person of interest was initially detained following the incident, they have since been released. The search for the suspect continues as the motive behind the stabbing remains unclear. The NYPD has made no arrests in this case and the investigation is ongoing.
