
A near-fatal shooting in South Seattle is currently under investigation by Seattle police homicide detectives, following an incident on Wednesday morning that left two men with gunshot wounds, one of which is considered life-threatening. According to the SPD Blotter, officers first responded to Harborview Medical Center after a 49-year-old male victim arrived with a gunshot wound to the hip at approximately 10:40 a.m. Shortly after, at around 11:00 a.m., authorities received a 911 text about someone shot inside of a recreational vehicle near 42nd Avenue South and Beacon Avenue South.
The first responding officers found a 22-year-old man inside the RV with a severe gunshot wound to the head. After administering immediate medical care, the Seattle Fire Department took over and transported the younger victim to the same medical center, where he remains in critical condition. An investigation revealed that an exchange of gunfire had occurred inside the RV between the two men, with one shot peppering the hip of the older man and another bullet striking the younger man in the head, the latter of whom is not expected to survive.
While detectives have identified a third suspect involved in the event, police have yet to locate this individual. The Seattle Police Department has successfully recovered two of three guns connected to the shooting. The Crime Scene Investigation Unit has processed the scene, and the case is actively being pursued by the homicide detectives.
