The Upland Police Department apprehended a man on probation earlier this week for possessing approximately 400 pounds of illegal fireworks at a business complex, igniting concerns about safety in the community. According to KTLA, authorities were alerted to a disturbance at the 1600 block of West Arrow Route Monday night, where upon their arrival, the individual was found with not only the fireworks but also was accused of brandishing a weapon.

The Upland Police detailed the encounter, stating on social media, "Officers contacted the suspect, who was on probation for assault out of L.A. County, and conducted a probation search of his commercial unit." Discovered were the illegal fireworks, which were described as being sold within the community, thereby "putting the business complex in immediate danger." The suspect's identity was not disclosed but he is currently being charged for brandishing a weapon, felony possession of illegal fireworks for sale, and violating probation.

In a parallel effort to curb illegal firework activities, nearly 2,500 pounds of fireworks were seized by San Bernardino County law enforcement in separate incidents the same night. CBS News Los Angeles reported that an additional arrest was made after a traffic stop led officers to find over 2,000 pounds of contraband pyrotechnics. These incidents are part of a regional crackdown as municipalities approach the Fourth of July, with an air of zero tolerance for illegal fireworks that has spread across numerous Southern California counties.
