A two-year-old boy from the Bronx, Montrell Williams, has been reported missing for almost a month after a custodial visit with his father, causing concern and urgency in the local community. According to ABC7 New York, the last confirmed sighting of Montrell was on May 10 at 10 p.m. in the Hunts Point area; he was with his father, who failed to return him after their visit.
The situation escalated when the toddler's mother, having not seen her child since the visit, reported Montrell as missing on May 30 suspecting custodial interference, the father had the boy legally during the court-ordered visitation, but the return never happened. Montrell was last seen wearing a white shirt and a diaper, and he is described as having a medium complexion with brown eyes and black hair, the mother's distress became palpable when she confronted the father and asked him where Montrell was—receiving no answer—she immediately contacted the police prompting them to question the father.
Authorities are keen for any information that could assist in the recovery of the missing child and have encouraged the public to reach out. 1010 WINS notes that anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers to aid the investigation.
The NYPD is thoroughly investigating the case, and while specific details of the father's questioning have not been released, there is a growing concern for the well-being of young Montrell since it’s unusual for a child of such a tender age to be missing for a long period of time, leading the police and community members to search the areas around 827 Hunts Point Ave. in Hunts Point and East 152nd Street in the neighboring Melrose section where the boy lives, in the hopes of locating him safely.
