Vallejo has been the scene of a recent arrest following a disturbing series of events. The Vallejo Police Department apprehended a suspect linked to arson, sexual assault, and attempted murder. On May 10, officers and firefighters responded to a blazing fire beneath the Lincoln Road East overpass, according to a social media post by the Vallejo Police Department. The aftermath of the deliberately set blaze left one man with severe, life-threatening burns.
Investigations by the Vallejo Police Department's Detective Division unearthed a second victim, this time a female who reported a harrowing ordeal. Under duress during the timeframe of the arson, she described being kidnapped, made to consume narcotics, and being sexually assaulted. Having identified 39-year-old Joshua Bryan Anderson as the suspect, a background check uncovered his registration as a sex offender currently out on parole and probation for domestic violence, along with two outstanding arrest warrants for violations of that parole.
Yesterday, Anderson was located at a homeless encampment on 330 Avian Drive and was detained without incident by officers conducting an area check, as detailed in the Vallejo Police Department. The subsequent booking into the Solano County Jail included charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, rape, and aggravated mayhem, amongst others.
Chief Jason Ta lauded the actions taken in response to the case, expressing, "This was a violent and traumatic incident that left two victims in need of immediate help and long-term support," as stated in the Vallejo Police Department's post. The survivor's courage in stepping forward and the dedication of the officers and detectives were commended for bringing the offender to justice and standing by those affected by such heinous acts.
