Heads up, St. Louis drivers—major construction is about to make your weekend commutes a bit more challenging. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the intersection of Route D (Page Ave.) and Route 67 (Lindbergh Blvd.) will be completely closed starting Friday, June 27 at 8 p.m. and is scheduled to reopen on Monday, June 30 at 5 a.m.
The closure will allow crews to safely demolish the eastbound side of the Route D bridge over Route 67. To manage traffic during this period, temporary signals will be set up to steadily guide vehicles on the ramps to Route 67. Motorists driving both northbound and southbound on Route 67 will need to navigate up and over temporary bypasses constructed specifically for this endeavor.
For those accustomed to traveling westbound on Route D, a detour will be in place: drivers will to divert to northbound Route 67, proceed to Midland Ave., before taking southbound Route 67 to reconnect with westbound Route D. Similarly, eastbound Route D motorists will be directed to southbound Route 67, then to Olive Blvd., and onto northbound Route 67 to get back to eastbound Route D.
When regular traffic flow resumes early Monday morning, things will still be a tad different than usual. Drivers will find themselves using the westbound side of the bridge for both directions—two lanes allocated for westbound and two for eastbound traffic. MoDOT also advises that one lane will be closed on both the northbound and southbound sides of Route 67. The altered traffic pattern is meant to allow to continue further work on the project while minimizing the impact on commuters.
