A 32-year-old Weymouth man was placed under arrest following a road rage incident where he purportedly brandished a gun at another driver. The Hingham Police took to social media to provide an account of the altercation that resulted in charges being laid against Wiallace Yuri Alcantara. The detailed narrative on Facebook describes the sequence of events that unfolded on June 19 at around 3:03 pm.
The confrontation began when a driver, heading east on Lincoln St. (Route 3A), noticed Alcantara on his motorcycle maneuvering past cars and making hand gestures after the driver honked his horn. According to the police post, it was at the intersection of Shipyard Dr. that Alcantara allegedly escalated the situation, taking to quickly draw a firearm and pointed it at the complainant's windshield before concealing the weapon and turning off into the Hingham Shipyard.
Following the incident, the driver who was reportedly threatened called 9-1-1, leading officers to a parked motorcycle at the rear of a business on Shipyard Dr. The motorcycle, its rider's clothing, and the described appearance matched the driver's account, leading police to Alcantara, who was found inside the business where he worked. The situation concluded with the discovery of a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun registered to Alcantara, left in an employee bin for personal items.
Alcantara faces several charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon, improper storage of a firearm, and disorderly conduct, despite possessing a License to Carry a Firearm. After being processed, he was released upon posting a $1,500 cash bail and is set to appear at Hingham District Court, as reported by the Hingham Police's Facebook post.
