
A woman was seriously injured after becoming trapped between a Metro train and the platform Wednesday night at the Metro station on East 1st Street in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the emergency shortly before 10 p.m., where they found the 50-year-old woman in need of extrication. According to a KTLA report, the woman was freed and transported to a local hospital, with her condition described as "at least" serious.
Officers and emergency personnel swiftly worked to remove the passengers from the train safely while they investigated the circumstances that led to the woman’s predicament. The LAFD immediately provided aid at the scene located at 1311 East 1st Street station, and as yet, there has been no information released on how the woman became trapped. No other injuries were reported in the incident, the LAFD's news alert also notes.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was quick to release details of the rescue operation with a statement on their website. "Firefighters are working to extricate the patient," mentioned in an LAFD ALERT. The alert confirmed that there were no other injured persons as a result of the incident.
Following the successful extrication, the LAFD provided an update on the woman's condition. In an updated LAFD ALERT, it was disclosed that the "50yo female patient was extricated and is being transported in *at least* serious condition." This update further confirmed that no other injuries were related to the evening's events.
