
Another incident of gun violence has disrupted the relative calm of West Seattle, this time involving a 23-year-old man arrested for a drive-by shooting. Seattle police reported the arrest after responding to a call last Friday. According to the Seattle Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. when officers were notified of gunfire from the sunroof of a car along the 2400 block of Harbor Avenue Southwest. Fortunately, the event resulted in no injuries or property damage.
Investigations quickly led to the discovery of a shell casing at the scene and after gathering details from witnesses, the suspected vehicle was located nearby and pulled over in a high-risk traffic stop police found another shell casing inside, clearly visible on the car's rear floorboard, and after detaining all occupants of the car for questioning, they ultimately pinpointed the driver as the perpetrator.
The two passengers, who were with the suspect during the incident, were released after being cleared of any involvement; in the meantime, the suspect's vehicle was confiscated and sent over to the Vehicle Processing Room, where it's set for a thorough search for any additional evidence that may shed further light on the night's events.
The accused is now facing charges as he sits in the King County Jail, with charges of Investigation of Drive-By Shooting hanging over his head, detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit have stepped in, joining the fray as they conduct their work on this case; this arrest once again highlights the ongoing challenge of gun-related crimes in Seattle, which seems to persist despite the authorities' efforts to quell the violence.
