
A fatal shooting claimed the life of a 70-year-old man during what police suspect was an attempted car theft in West Philadelphia. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, and the victim was identified as Carmen Suero Jr. from Drexel Hill, Pa., according to a statement by the Philadelphia Police Department officials as reported by NBC Philadelphia. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North 63rd Street just after 5 pm after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, authorities found Suero with a gunshot wound to his back. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly before 5:30 pm. The CBS News Philadelphia report details that two male suspects were seen to quickly run from the scene and remain at large. The Philadelphia Police Department has not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting, and the investigation continues to actively unfold.
