
An 8-year-old boy was critically injured after falling 20 feet into a shaft on the Koko Head trail last Saturday afternoon. He was hiking with his family when he fell into a bunker-like room near the summit, according to KHON2.
The Honolulu Fire Department responded to the scene and provided basic life support before rescuing the boy from the trail. The operation involved an airlift. After the rescue, he was transferred to Emergency Medical Services and taken to the hospital in critical condition, KHON2 reported.
