An Abingdon man is in custody following a fatal domestic incident that has left a community in mourning. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) confirmed the arrest of David Williams, 66, in connection with the shooting death of his wife last night. Deputies were called to the scene in the 2800 block of Bynum Overlook Drive around 10:45 p.m., where they found a 64-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office report, the initial response was quickly followed by an investigation by HCSO Criminal Investigations Division detectives, with the Forensic Services Unit also arriving to assist. Their findings indicated that David Williams shot the victim, his wife, once in the upper body. As events unfolded, the narrative presented by law enforcement began to paint a grim picture of domestic violence turned deadly.
Following the investigation, Williams was taken to the Harford County Detention Center, where he faces charges of First Degree Murder and various firearm violations. In a system that presumes innocence until proven guilty, such charges are nonetheless severe, and in this instance, have led to Williams being held without bond, a testament to the weight of the accusations against him. After his initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner, the decision was made to detain Williams, ensuring he remains in custody.
