Altamonte Springs is buzzing with preparations for its 28th Red, Hot & Boom Independence Day celebration, which, according to ClickOrlando, is set to attract a crowd of some 200,000 people to Cranes Roost Park. The annual affair is known for a potent mix of live music, food, family fun, and a mammoth fireworks extravaganza that, this year, pledges a barrage of at least nine fireworks every second for the duration of its 28-minute show.
Residents and visitors are gearing up for a night to remember, as the city's manager, Frank Martz, has gone on record about the impressive scope of the event. "We're going to shoot the most dense and intense fireworks anywhere in the state," Martz said, emphasizing the scale of the pyrotechnic display. The city's police force is also on high alert, with nearly 300 law enforcement personnel scheduled to be present, ensuring a safe environment for attendees, reports WESH. They've advised arriving early due to heavy traffic and have listed items prohibited at the venue, including drones, personal alcohol, and fireworks.
Apart from the big bangs in the sky, this year also highlights local Orlando artists, with four singers and bands set to perform. Frank Martz expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming talent, "This show has gotten so big that local talent is really going to get to play a place where they can plant their feet and launch their career," he told WESH. Reflecting on the impact of such a significant stage for burgeoning performers, Red Hot & Boom’s commitment to showcasing homegrown talents is clear.
While contingency plans are in place for inclement weather, the organizers are confident that the show will continue. "This is a rain or shine event, and we're going to shoot the fireworks no matter what. The show is going to go on," Martz declared, underscoring their determination to light up the sky rain or shine. With a forecast that's par for the course in Florida, event-goers are being prepared for potential showers without dampening the excitement for the celebrations, set to start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, culminating with the fireworks at 9:30 p.m., according to WESH.

Despite the challenges presented by tariffs on Chinese imports impacting fireworks, Altamonte Springs is undoubtedly committed to delivering a 'Red, Hot & Boom' event that lives up to its name, and then some.
