Paul Farmer, a Valley resident, is spending the summer without air conditioning in an effort to raise awareness and funds for families unable to afford cooling during Arizona’s extreme heat. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, Farmer is intentionally living in indoor temperatures reaching 100 degrees, mirroring the conditions he experienced last year during a period of financial hardship. Through his initiative, he aims to draw attention to the challenges faced by low-income households during the summer months and encourage community support.
As of Monday, Valley resident Paul Farmer had reached day 61 of his self-imposed “No A/C” challenge, with 64 days remaining, according to KTAR News 92.3 FM's Arizona’s Morning News. In an effort to raise awareness about families living without air conditioning, Farmer has adopted various strategies to cope with the extreme heat, including the use of an inflatable raft and fans to improve airflow. While the summer temperatures remain intense, recent monsoon rains have offered occasional relief during his ongoing effort.
