An Arkansas fugitive was taken into custody on July 11, not far from the Mississippi River, in the parking lot of a home improvement store in Dyersburg, Tennessee. The Dyer County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies responded to a tip-off regarding a white Dodge Durango in the parking lot of Lowe's Home Improvement at 1155 Highway 51 Bypass, housing the wanted individual.
Geoffrey Spears, a 59-year-old man identified by the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office as the suspect, was found occupying the vehicle. Upon conducting an NCIC inquiry, it was confirmed that Spears was sought for a parole violation in Arkansas, which authorized full extradition. Originally from Blytheville, Arkansas, Spears had been residing on South Lake Street before his apprehension.
Following the arrest, Spears was designated as a "Fugitive from Justice," and was processed at a local detention center, then released to corrections uneventfully. According to the social media post by the Sheriff's Office, a court appearance for Spears was scheduled for 0900 hours on July 14.
-The swift response by the Sheriff's Office to the intelligence received, plus the coordination with Arkansas authorities, underscores the importance of interagency cooperation in contemporary law enforcement.
