Arlington Animal Services is rolling out an unbeatable offer to help furry friends find their forever families. As noted on the City of Arlington's website, from August 1-23, potential pet parents can adopt cats and dogs for just $5 as part of the national "Clear The Shelters" campaign. This initiative, backed by NBCUniversal Local, has been a lifeline for over one million pets since its inception in 2015, ensuring animals across the country are placed in nurturing environments.
For those hesitant about the standard adoption fees, which are typically $100 for dogs and $90 for cats, Arlington's discounted rate also covers essential services. Prospective adopters can expect spaying/neutering, microchipping, and vaccinations to be included in the $5 bargain, according to Arlington Animal Services. With adoption events at local PetSmart and Petco stores, and even a Starbucks, the campaign exceeds mere discounts, offering a community-centric approach that brings adoption possibilities to public spaces where folks already gather.
For those who can't make it in person or prefer the digital route, Arlington's campaign includes an online donation platform through Greater Good Charities, and virtual pet adoptions via the WeRescue app. This app not only helps to locate adoptable animals but also streamlines the adoption process by allowing users to submit applications and connect with shelters directly. The official Clear The Shelters website, together with its Spanish counterpart, serves as a hub for detailed information on participating shelters and event dates.
