Bay Area residents should prepare for traffic delays as the Missouri Department of Transportation begins bridge repair work on U.S. Highway 169 at NW Cookingham Drive. The project starts Wednesday and is expected to continue through the end of October, weather permitting.

According to the MoDOT, starting 9 a.m. on Wednesday, the northbound lanes of U.S. 169 at Cookingham Dr. will be a no-go zone. The closures slam into place, moving traffic onto the ramp to NW Cookingham Dr/I-435 in a bid to handle the detour. Then, brace yourselves, the weekend is also queuing up challenges. Cookingham Dr. will be shut down in both directions under the 169 bridge starting Friday at 7 p.m. and is expected to reopen, like opening a present after a long weekend, on Monday, July 28 at around 5 a.m.

The work involves removing and repairing the bridge deck to help maintain the structure long-term. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternate routes. More details are available on the MoDOT website.
