On July 1, Boston police made an arrest in Mattapan during a targeted drug investigation, detaining Rudy Martinez, 30, on charges related to drug trafficking. Martinez, a local resident, was caught subsequent to a search warrant being executed by officers from the Drug Control Units of District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) and B-3 (Mattapan).
Officials conducting the operation entered an apartment at around 2:30 p.m. at 415 River Street and found signs of tampering with a window screen. Martinez was then observed by officers attempting to quickly proceed to his vehicle, but upon spotting the authorities, he began to run in full sprint toward Blue Hill Avenue. Officers managed to promptly apprehend Martinez before he could evade the scene.
According to a report by the Boston Police Department, after taking Martinez into custody, they returned to the initial search location and uncovered numerous bags of fentanyl and crack cocaine, materials used for drug packaging and manufacturing, along with two digital scales. These findings led to charges against Martinez for trafficking significant quantities of these controlled substances.
Martinez is set to face arraignment in Dorchester District Court on charges for trafficking an estimated 85 grams of fentanyl—a potent opioid—and 25 grams of crack cocaine. The Boston Police Department's statement further detailed that these substances are categorized as Class A and Class B drugs, respectively, signaling the serious nature of the offenses.
