
Residents of Boston are bracing for sizzling temperatures as the city heads into a sweltering start of the week, a Heat Advisory has been issued for Sunday and Monday, high humidity and hot temperatures are expected to push the heat index values as high as 96 to 97 degrees.
With a high near 93 degrees forecasted for both today and Monday, the Southwest winds will offer little relief, though they may pick up speed in the afternoons, especially along the coastal areas, according to the National Weather Service. By nightfall, temperatures are expected to dip only to the low 70s, thus conditions remain warm and muggy.
Tropical Storm Chantal, which recently made landfall off the coast of South Carolina, is now moving north and is anticipated to track northeast, it could potentially impact Boston's weather, delivering additional rainfall on Tuesday just before it is anticipated to be ushered out to sea by a cold front, according to NBC Boston’s forecast.
Looking ahead, the weather is set to shift following the departure of the tropical storm, with temperatures expected to cool down to the upper 70s and lower 80s, that's closer to the seasonal averages for this time of year, meanwhile, rain and thunderstorms are forecasted to persist at least until Thursday bringing a necessary respite to the residents from the heat.
