An explosion at the Shanzhou Fireworks Company in Hunan Province, China, which killed nine people and injured 26, has affected this year’s Damboree fireworks show in Boulder City. China supplies most of the fireworks used in the U.S., and the incident, along with tariff-related issues, has led to a smaller display for the event, according to the City of Boulder City.

The City of Boulder City announced that the Damboree Committee's fireworks order was canceled after it included products from a company involved in a recent blast. The committee arranged a smaller supply, resulting in a shorter fireworks display. "Canceling the show would disappoint residents, especially children, so we worked with our vendor to get a smaller supply. The show will go on, but it will be noticeably shorter," said Damboree Chair Roger Hall. The parking fee for the event has been reduced to $10. "We believe residents will be sympathetic and still have a great Independence Day," Hall said.

Damboree at Veterans Memorial Park will include a pancake breakfast by the Rotary Club of Boulder City, a parade from Colorado and Nevada Way to Broadbent Park, food and drinks from non-profit vendors, and a coin toss event for kids at the community pool. The city continues to promote the use of safe and sane fireworks through on Friday to reduce impact on veterans and pets. Entry fees are reduced this year. Hall said, “We’ll work to put on a bigger, better show for 2026,” as reported by the City of Boulder City.
