In Grapevine, Texas, the School Resource Officers (SROs) from the Burleson Police Department have made their city proud, following a comprehensive stint at the 2025 NASRO National School Safety Conference. This annual conference, a convergence of SROs, school administrators, and safety experts, is aimed squarely at fostering learning and collective expertise to better protect the nation's school environments. Held at the upscale Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, the event featured numerous critical learning modules geared towards escalating the security and well-being of students and staff alike.
The Burleson PD SROs were eager to deeply engage with an array of topics that ran the gamut from leadership development in the Supervisor & Management Course to lifesaving strategies around drug trend awareness, particularly with fentanyl. "This premier event brings together SROs, school administrators, and safety professionals from across the nation for cutting-edge training and collaboration," is how the Burleson Police Department framed the conference's impact in a recent social media statement. The team's commitment was clear as they brought back to Burleson fresh tactics to proactively assess threats, enhance crisis planning endeavors, and manage emergent situations more effectively.
Behavioral Threat Assessment was a key component of the training, zeroing in on early warning signals to preemptively halt potential crises. Moreover, sessions dedicated to School Safety & Security, as well as Gang Recognition aimed to empower SROs with the know-how to strengthen daily operational practices and to nimbly identify gang influences before they could take root.
