The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma had to cancel their much-anticipated fireworks display, Boom in the Valley, after a fire broke out on the grounds where the event was being prepared. The unfortunate incident took place at around 6 p.m. yesterday at the Tuskahoma Capitol Grounds and resulted in injuries to at least five individuals. This has been confirmed by multiple sources including KOCO and KFOR.
While details regarding the health status of those injured were not immediately available, concern for their well-being has been deeply expressed by the Choctaw Nation. Preparing for today's event, set for July 3, a fire erupted whose cause remains under investigation. The fire, having broken out while setting up, has effectively put a halt to the annual festivities.
With investigatory efforts in progress to determine the cause of the fire, the Choctaw Nation has asked the community, in a statement obtained by NewsOn6, to "join us in praying for those injured." The priority for the Choctaw Nation remains the safety and recovery of those affected by the incident. The investigation is being closely followed by local authorities and is expected to shed light on the factors that led to the fire.
