The City of Alcoa is officially opening the floor to contractors who wish to take on the task of vegetation herbicidal treatment along several powerline right-of-way (ROW) circuits. Interested parties have until the afternoon of August 7, to submit their firm price bids for the fiscal year 2026, as communicated by the city's announcement on their website. The project involves circuits Duncan 214, 244, 254 as well as Wildwood 224, 234, 254, 264, 274, and 284.

Vendors have the option to send in their bids through various methods such as U.S. Mail, UPS, FedEx, or email. However, it is the responsibility of each vendor to ensure that their bid arrives before the deadline. Bids received after the 2 p.m. cutoff on the specified date will remain unopened and be discarded. Ashley Wagner, the Purchasing Agent, stated that regardless of the delivery method, the vendor is responsible for the early delivery of their bid.

All bids must be addressed to the Alcoa Public Works & Engineering Department and include the required details on the forms issued by the City. These forms must be completed in ink and bear a valid signature to be considered.

Detailed procurement information is available in the public notice. The City retains the discretion to accept or reject any bid and to negotiate with the lowest bidder prior to acceptance.

Questions or concerns regarding the request for bids must be directed to Ashley Wagner by phone or the provided email at least 48 hours before the bid deadline. Wagner emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency throughout the process.

The City also affirms its commitment to equal opportunity by complying with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This ensures that no person is excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance based on race, sex, age, national origin, or disabling condition.
