Photographers, grab your cameras because the City of Colorado Springs’ Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) is once again seeking stellar snaps of the local landscape. Their annual contest is making a call for city dwellers to immortalize the outdoor splendor of Colorado’s natural resources. Whether you fancy yourself a pro with the lens or a casual photo taker, if you’ve captured the allure of Colorado Springs, think crimson sunsets, wildflower vistas, or limestone wonders, according to the City of Colorado Springs.

The folks at PRCS are specifically inviting the public to submit images for the 13th edition of the Discover COS Calendar. This year's theme, “Rooted in the Outdoors,” intends to showcase the significance of open spaces that serve not only to greatly strengthen our connection with nature but also offer a respite from our incessantly busy lives. If your photos beautifully represent this theme, be sure to get your entries in by the deadline: 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.

Entering the contest could not be more straightforward. Those interested can simply send an email containing their photographs to [email protected]. Alternatively, photo prints can be dropped off or mailed to 1401 Recreation Way. Come October, winning shots will be announced at an awards ceremony, with winners earning a spot in the calendar that will become available for a suggested donation shortly after.
