Planning a trip downtown just got a bit less stressful for locals and visitors to Colorado Springs, at least when it comes to parking. The City of Colorado Springs Parking Enterprise has rolled out its final parking and curb management plan, a strategic blueprint aimed at alleviating those parking woes. The plan is now available for public viewing on the official city website, as reported by the City of Colorado Springs
With an eye toward economic vitality, the new plan outlines ways to increase access for residents and visitors, especially those looking to support businesses in Downtown and Old Colorado City. Alyssa Alt, the City Parking Enterprise Manager, emphasized in a statement the importance of the plan for future budget-dependent projects that are designed to provide increased access to businesses and institutions. The city’s Parking System Enterprise, acting as an economic catalyst, has been largely self-sustaining of taxpayer or general fund dollars, according to the City of Colorado Springs.
The culmination of a 10-month effort, the plan brings together community input, data analysis, and strategic thinking. It maps out a system covering both on-street and off-street parking, particularly focusing on technological advancements and enhancing customer experience. Notably, this comprehensive parking makeover began with community engagement, engaging residents through surveys and stakeholder sessions, and incorporating public feedback from a draft plan released earlier in April.
