In an unfolding story of crime and capture, an arrest has been made in connection to a string of auto burglaries in the Town Creek area of Covington, Tennessee. On the early morning of April 11, Covington Police reported receiving two incidents of vehicles being unlawfully entered. Despite the lack of immediate reports of missing items, home surveillance was key in sparking a swift investigative response.

According to a press release from the Covington Police Department, the suspects were caught on camera, leading detectives to release images of both the suspects and their vehicle. The investigation quickly progressed, revealing that the vehicle in use was reported as stolen from Lauderdale County. It was determined that the suspects had utilized it to allegedly travel and commit the burglaries in Covington.

18-year-old Kwinton Purifoy, from Ripley, Tennessee, was apprehended and has admitted to his involvement in the burglaries. He now faces charges, including Criminal Trespass and Burglary in Covington and is contending with multiple felony charges from Lauderdale County. "Our Detectives and Analysts worked closely with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office detectives in solving these crimes," said Chief Donna Turner in the statement released by the Covington Police Department. "The suspect will face charges in both counties for their choices to break the law." Purifoy is currently held on a $40,000 bond.

Further investigations are ongoing, with expectations of potentially bringing more suspects into the legal fold. Meanwhile, police urge the community to remain vigilant by locking vehicles and securing valuables. The Covington Police Department highlights the value of home security systems not only as a protective measure but also as an investigative tool. "This is a great example of home security cameras being used to help us to help our citizens protect their community," expressed Chief Turner.

As the case unfolds, the Covington Police Department encourages the public to step forward with any pertinent information. Community members with additional insights are urged to contact the Covington Police Department Investigations Division directly or through social media channels to aid in the ongoing inquiry.
