The Dallas Animal Services (DAS) community will soon be saying farewell to a valued member of their team. According to the DAS Volunteer Newsletter, volunteer coordinator Nathan has announced his departure from the organization. Nathan, who began his journey with DAS in September of 2022, is set to leave his post on July 22nd. The DAS team is hosting a farewell breakfast in his honor on July 19th, showing their appreciation with, among other things, bagels. Throughout his tenure, Nathan has played a pivotal role in implementing volunteer-driven programs like Daycations and kennel trackers.

DAS's efforts do not cease with the departure of a staff member. As part of their annual July initiative, they have launched 'Mission Pawsible', striving for a record-breaking adoption month. The shelter encourages volunteers to disseminate flyers and engage with potential adopters via social media, featuring pets with spy-themed props. Adopters this month receive a complimentary t-shirt and a chance to win a $100 prize pack. The initiative, detailed in the Volunteer Newsletter, is a dynamic effort to inspire community involvement and find homes for shelter animals.

In addition to adoption-centric campaigns, DAS is grateful for the volunteers who participated in 'Calming the Canines', which took place during the cacophony of Independence Day fireworks. The initiative was a success as the volunteers' presence had a significant calming effect on the shelter dogs, with five dogs finding new homes that evening. Input from these volunteers is also vital in other areas, such as providing canine enrichment and crafting bios to help the residents of DAS stand out to potential adopters.
