If you're looking to tap into the creative vein of Dallas, the Latino Cultural Center is your go-to hotspot this summer. Saturday, July 19th, brings an opportunity for visitors of all ages to explore the nexus of location and self-expression in the "Mapping: Space + Identity" event. Participants are encouraged to create personal maps that chart their journeys—both physical and spiritual—with highlights on significant waypoints that form their unique cultural narratives.

The 9th annual Texas Latino Comic Con on August 9th promises to be a cultural bonanza. According to the Latino Cultural Center, per the City of Dallas buletin,"Our mission is to create a space for Latino creators and fans to converge and celebrate our culture through stories and art." The con is set to feature an array of panels, vendors, and the thrilling spectacle of lucha libre. Admission is gratis for all, making it an affordable family affair.

Further cementing its commitment to the arts, the center is also putting out a call to Dallas artists for the "Hecho en Dallas" exhibition. Since 2003, this showcase has been a platform for local artists' diverse expressions. Submission deadlines are on August 15. The exhibition itself runs from September 20th through October 24th, with an opening reception that Saturday night, announced the Latino Cultural Center.

And for those itching to test their comedic chops, mark your calendars for Thursdays, August 16, 23, 30, & September 6. In partnership with FTC Comedy, the Latino Cultural Center presents a comedian workshop series which offers budding performers four weeks of guided writing prompts, tips on joke structure and storytelling, plus feedback from pro comedians to help polish that five-minute set or story. "This workshop is a fun, safe space to explore your voice and connect through laughter," said comedians Paulos Feerow and Lilli Lopez.
