The Oak Cliff Cultural Center is rolling out a slew of events for the summer, featuring diverse workshops, exhibitions, and a film screening that promises to enrich the Dallas arts scene. Kicking off the activities, the center offers an "Expressive Comics!" workshop led by Chelsea Akpan, inviting aspiring cartoonists of all levels to explore the art of visual storytelling on Saturday, July 26, from 2 – 4 PM.

For those seeking a mellow vibe, the Music & Relaxation Wellness Series, hosted by Kamica King, MA, MT-BC, board-certified music therapist, will be running every Wednesday between July 30 and August 27 at 6:30-7:30 PM. King's series is an innovative fusion of music therapy and relaxation practices designed to provide participants with techniques for stress relief and mindfulness, according to the Oak Cliff Cultural Center's announcement.

The OC3 Gallery is set to welcome a new exhibition by artist Chantal Lesley, titled "As I Lay It All To Rest," opening on August 1 and running through September 12. With works that delve into the complexities of memory, regret, and identity, Lesley, a Texas State University alumna and daughter of Peruvian and German immigrants, engages with pertinent social and political themes. Her art pieces have been showcased extensively, including at venues like the Houston Center for Photography and venues as far as Château d'Orquevaux in France.

In addition, the Multi-Purpose Studio at the center will host the Cypher Dallas Photography Exhibition, named "The Soil Box," with an opening reception set for July 19, 2025, at 6:00-9:00 PM. This exhibition will feature the works of various photographers until August 9, offering attendees a glimpse into local visions and diverse perspectives. Though what is sure to be a highlight at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center is the screening of "At the Pan-African Connection" (2025) on Sunday, August 17th at the Texas Theatre. The documentary by filmmaker Anthony Asota looks at the challenges faced by Black America and features a panel discussion post-showing with local Dallas figures like Jerry Hawkins, Akwete Tyehimba, Marilyn Clark, and Patrick Washington.
