An early morning dispute yesterday between two Wendy's coworkers ended in violence, leaving one man dead and another critically injured in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood, as per an official statement released by local authorities. The altercation, which spiraled into a fatal shooting and stabbing, took place in the fast-food restaurant's parking lot on Union Blvd.
According to a release from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched at around 7:25 a.m. to the scene, where they found a 28-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. Suffering from gunshot wounds, the other man, 52, laid nearby, already succumbed to his injuries when police arrived.
The department's preliminary investigation suggests that a personal argument between the two men escalated inside of the Wendy's establishment before carrying out into the parking lot. During the ensuing confrontation, it is believed that the 52-year-old stabbed the 28-year-old, who in turn, shot the older man.
While the younger man was taken to the hospital and remains in critical but stable condition, homicide detectives have taken up the case due to the death of the 52-year-old at the scene. Recovered by the officers, a knife and a firearm have been secured as part of the investigation evidence. Further details surrounding the incident and the nature of the argument have yet to be clarified by police.
