Denver's commitment to a greener future got a financial boost this week, as local nonprofits racked up a total of $21,000 to fund energy efficiency projects. The Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships (HRCP) handed out the awards at their annual $ave Green Be Green ($GBG) Conference, a gathering that arms nonprofits and community groups with the knowledge and resources to cut costs and emissions through smarter, sustainable operations, according to Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships.

The winners of this year’s pitch competition include the Bluff Lake Nature Center which secured a cool $10,000 while the Denver Museum of Nature & Science bagged $5,000, and other community groups like The Alliance for Collective Action and We Don't Waste received $2,500 and $1,500 respectively, Most Precious Blood Catholic Church and Holy Rosary Catholic Church each tied by snagging an even $1,000 for their victories at the free conference that not only champions eco-friendly practices but also drives local initiatives geared toward Denver’s larger climate resilience plans.

"These nonprofits are doing incredible work in our communities, and we're proud to support their efforts to become more energy-efficient," said Perla Gheiler, the Executive Director of Denver HRCP, as obtained by the Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships, underscoring the organization's commitment to environmental justice and climate readiness by lowering operational costs for key community players.
