After a service spanning half a century, Dianne Moose, a stalwart figure in Catawba County law enforcement and government, has announced her retirement. The news broke via a social media post by the Catawba County Sheriff's Office, which detailed the extensive history of Moose's tenure that began in 1975 with the Register of Deeds Office.
In a career marked by dedication and evolution, Moose transitioned from administrative assistant under Sheriff L. David Huffman to becoming a sworn-in Deputy Sheriff after completing Basic Law Enforcement Training at Catawba Valley Community College in 1983. She has continued to duly serve the community, seeming to effortlessly shift between administrative duties and more direct law enforcement roles, including a stint in the Narcotics Division before moving on historically to serve as a Warrant Service Deputy in 1996.
Moose's tenure did not halt even after leaving full-time service in 2004, as she returned to the office later the same year to continue working in a part-time capacity. The respect and gratitude toward Moose from colleagues and the community alike were palpable as the Sheriff's Office invited all to join in "applauding Dianne for her 50 years of exemplary service to the citizens of Catawba County."
