Bringing a new vibe to Glendale's retail and sports scene, Dick's Sporting Goods is setting up a new experiential store labeled Dick's House of Sport, set to launch this fall. Planned near the Loop 101 and Maryland Avenue intersection, playing into the growing trend of experiential retail spaces, this venue is primed to become a community gathering spot and offer more than just products off the shelf. According to ABC15, the store promises over 100,000 square feet of space dedicated to a spectrum of athletic products and interactive sporting experiences.

With its grand opening weekend scheduled for October 17, visitors to the West Valley store will notably have access to an outdoor track and turf field. "Inside you will find a unique place that is focused on connecting with the community – and connecting people with sport," the representative conveyed to ABC15. Glendale's locale will offer an assortment of indoor in-store experiences, like a rock-climbing wall designed to entertain and train climbers of various skill levels, golf hitting bays featuring Trackman technology for analytics-driven practice, and a putting green to refine that short game. Also anticipating those with a competitive streak, a multi-sport HitTrax cage will accommodate baseball, softball, lacrosse, and soccer players aiming to improve their game.

While specific details remain under wraps, Dick’s Sporting Goods’ investment into creating a destination store reflects the company's evolving approach to retail. Having scooped up approximately 11 acres of land for $10.6 million, according to records obtained by the KTAR News, Dick's is pitching its tent in a location expected to bolster both sales and community engagement.

More widely known for its expansive inventory of sporting goods, Dick’s House of Sport locations have started to double as hubs for community events, ranging from group outings to birthday parties, in more than a dozen stores across the nation. The company envisioned these spaces not just as stores but as "a community hub and a partner to community organizations," a company representative shared, as per ABC15. Following the trend, the Gilbert area will also see a House of Sport establishment, affirming Dick's commitment to blending retail with experiential elements for a more dynamic consumer experience.
