A new series of art classes focused on drawing drapery and fabric folds will be held in the Five Points neighborhood. This skill helps artists improve their overall technique, and the program is being offered by the City of Raleigh's Parks and Recreation Department.
No prior experience with graphite or easels is required for this course. The class focuses on learning to draw fabric and shows how those skills can apply to other subjects like human anatomy, plants, and animals. It is open to anyone over 18 who wants to improve their art skills. Artist and instructor Adrienne Garnett will lead the class, helping participants express emotion through drawing and teaching how to capture the look and movement of fabric on paper.
Participants are expected to bring their own art supplies, including vine charcoal, a kneaded eraser, and soft pastels, as listed in the supply list. The classes will be held at the Five Points Center for Active Adults and cost $22 for the full four-week series. Adrienne Garnett, an award-winning artist who "loves working with artists of any age," will lead the sessions, according to a statement from the City of Raleigh's Parks and Recreation.
The art classes will take place from August 13 to September 3, every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Space may be limited, so early registration is encouraged. For more details and to register, visit the event page through the link provided above.
