In Dunwoody, Georgia, a celebratory Fourth of July parade turned into a scene of unintended chaos when a pedestrian was struck by an F150 Lightning towing a trailer. The Dunwoody Police Department reported the incident occurred at the intersection of Mount Vernon Road and Dunwoody Village Parkway at approximately 10:13 a.m. on July 4. Police describe how during the parade, the driver of the F150 Lightning paused to switch with another driver, leading to the accident.
While attempting to resume participation in the parade, the new driver mistakenly pressed on the accelerator, causing the truck to lunge forward unexpectedly. As a result of the driver’s action, not only was the pedestrian knocked to the ground, but the sudden stop that followed led to the detachment of a trailer, sending several people tumbling off, including children and an adult. The Dunwoody Police Department's communication indicated that though injuries were sustained, no individuals were in critical condition, with most being transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Sgt. Michael Cheek of the Dunwoody Police has confirmed that the department "is still actively investigating the crash" and has refrained from releasing further details at this juncture. Inquiries regarding the accident are to be directed to Sgt. Cheek through email, indicating a continued effort to understand the sequence of events that disrupted an otherwise festive occasion.
