The city of Edmond is streamlining its operations with various departments making their way to a new City Hall at 22 E. Main Street. According to the City of Edmond recent announcement, moves started on July 15 after a ribbon-cutting on July 14 celebrated the facility's opening. However, during this transitional phase, certain departments may be temporarily out of reach for face-to-face meetings, so residents are advised to call ahead using the online directory to confirm availability.
Eight departments including Building & Safety, City Clerk, City Council Chambers and offices, City Manager’s Office, Engineering, Housing & Community Resources, Marketing & Public Relations, and Planning and Zoning, along with Purchasing and Urban Forestry will eventually call the new City Hall home, this collective relocation marks an effort to consolidate city services which were previously spread across multiple locations, causing at times, a strain on efficiency and interdepartmental collaboration. The city's proactive approach in centralizing these operational units is poised to improve the accessibility and quality of municipal services provided to Edmond residents.
Accessibility extends to the City Hall's location as well, with free parking offered in the downtown public lots and the first floor of the new parking structure at the intersection of E. Main Street and N. Littler Avenue. However, those in need of an elevator due to ADA requirements will have to wait a bit longer, as adjustments are still underway on the upper floors of the parking garage to make them accessible.
