El Mirage is looking to bolster its local economy with several development projects slated to generate roughly 500 jobs in the next few years. A blend of auto, steel fabrication, and wood fabrication facilities are leading the charge. A substantial auto wholesale facility by CarMax, spanning 83,477 square feet, is expected to create around 250 jobs focusing mostly on auto repair and reconditioning, according to an announcement by the City of El Mirage Economic Development Division highlighted on their website.
The steel industry in the area is also poised for growth with the expansion of Cives Steel's facility. The 50,000 square-foot extension is set to provide 100 jobs concentrated on structural steel production. Not far behind, Desert Truss and Integrated Building Components are contributing to the woodworking sector with their facilities geared up to create a combined total of 130 jobs in carpentry, machine operations, and delivery services, as reported by the City of El Mirage.
While the numbers are still projections at this point, the City of El Mirage seems committed to bringing these projects to fruition. Such development has the potential to provide substantial job opportunities and reinforce the city's economic fabric over the coming three to five years. "We welcome their innovation and the opportunities they provide for job growth and progress for our city," the city's release conveyed.
All these ventures signify a noteworthy uptick in economic activity for El Mirage. CarMax has chosen a spot at Olive Ave. & Dysart Road for its large-scale operation, while Cives Steel is expanding its presence on W. Joe R. Ramirez Road. Desert Truss and Integrated Building Components will set up their wood fabrication shops on N. Dysart Road, drawing on the city's infrastructure and skilled labor pool, as per the City of El Mirage.
