It's a time to celebrate in El Paso as the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) Communications Department receives sweeping accolades from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), as reported by El Paso ISD. The district has been recognized for its strategic communications efforts, not just winning, but thoroughly impressing with two Golden Achievement Awards and topping charts for Website Excellence, amongst other honors.
This success story isn't about chance; it's about a targeted drive to effectively share and engage. EPISD aimed to not just communicate but also to deeply connect with its community, and in doing so, it struck national recognition. The Golden Achievement Awards specifically recognized the 'State of the District' and 'Destination District Redesign' initiatives. These projects were lauded for their measurable impact, with the former elevating community awareness and the latter aiming to inform stakeholders about the redesign process facing the school district. They're not merely winning awards; they're shaping the way school districts speak with their families.
The district's website redesign was particularly noted for its user-friendly experience and modern visuals, reflecting EPISD's dedication to being open and accessible. As Chief Communications Officer, Liza Rodriguez stated, "We’re really proud to bring national awards to El Paso. We are committed to meaningful communication that builds trust and strengthens our connection with the families and community we serve," as per El Paso ISD. The new site features not simply new paint, but an enhanced architecture for improved parent-teacher interaction and mobile responsiveness.
There's more to this success story, too. The district's communications team also scooped up additional awards for writing, video, photography, and social media. Among them are an 'Opinion Writing Award of Excellence' for covering the district's future vision, and a 'Video Award of Excellence' for spotlighting a Paralympic silver medalist alumnus. Rodriguez further commented on the importance of authentic storytelling in the success of their communications strategies. They were looking not just to be awarded, but to truly embody the district's achievements and aspirations through every digital interaction, photo, and story shared.
