A nearly five-hour standoff in Fallbrook concluded with the arrest of a woman early yesterday morning, after law enforcement responded to a domestic dispute that escalated to gunfire. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, deputies arrived at a residence on the 100 block of Avo Drive around 1:00 a.m., finding a man with a gunshot wound to his head.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was involved in a violent argument with Devin Jones. The confrontation inside their trailer saw Jones wielding a knife and threatening her boyfriend, who ultimately disarmed her and exited the premises. While he was outside, Jones reportedly fired a rifle through the window, striking him. The injury resulted in a minor skull laceration, and the victim was later released from the hospital after being treated for what could have been a fatal wound.
Following the shooting, Jones barricaded herself within the trailer, triggering a substantial law enforcement presence that included the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail, also known as SED or SWAT. Authorities meticulously worked to resolve the dangerous situation and succeeded when Jones was taken into custody at approximately 5:30 a.m., with no further incidents reported.
Jones is now facing an array of charges, including attempted murder, and is currently booked at the Vista Detention Facility. With the investigation ongoing, further details regarding the motive and the circumstances leading up to the altercation continue to be evaluated.
