On the evening of last Friday, the Folsom Fire Department responded to a tree fire on Kerr Court that threatened nearby homes. A single engine was first dispatched, but the response was upgraded when the fire was found to be close to three houses. Battalion Chief W. Nick Lawlor took command and called for additional units due to the risk, according to the City of Folsom.

A fire driven by strong winds reached a fence, an outbuilding, and one home before firefighters arrived. Crews quickly responded, using hose lines from Flower Drive and Kerr Court to evacuate residents and bring the fire under control. The blaze destroyed the fence and outbuilding and caused minor damage to the home. The home was later cleared for reoccupation once the fire was contained in 12 minutes, as reported by the City of Folsom.

A fire in Folsom required 22 firefighters, four engine companies, one truck company, and two command units to respond. Their efforts helped limit the damage. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but fireworks are suspected. It is not yet confirmed whether the fireworks were legal or illegal. Authorities are reminding residents to follow firework rules, especially during dry and windy conditions. More information will be released once the investigation is complete, as stated by the City of Folsom.
