Residents of Fort Collins have a budget-friendly opportunity to green their environment. As reported by the City of Fort Collins, the Rooted in Community Tree Sale will peddle 1,000 trees at the steal of $25 a pop this coming August. Starting bright and early at 8 a.m. on August 11, locals within the Fort Collins Growth Management Area can snag up to two trees for their household, but they'd better act fast; these leafy goods are expected to disappear quickly.
Before the sale kicks off, folks are nudged to set up an online account to avoid any hiccups during checkout. Trees can be nabbed via WebTrac, the Recreation Department’s digital playground for program registration. Christine Holtz, the city's Senior Forestry Specialist, told the City of Fort Collins, “The Rooted in Community Tree Sale is one of the most impactful ways we can support a healthier, more resilient urban forest in Fort Collins.”
The trees in this year's sale, sprouted locally by Fort Collins Wholesale Nursery, are ready to go head-to-head with the local climate. Buyers can fill their boots with options like bigtooth maple, catalpa, sucker punch chokecherry, and a smorgasbord of oaks and elms, plus shade, ornamental, and fruit trees. The green recruits await at Hoffman Mill for their new owners to collect them on September 6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and instructions will be sent post-purchase.
